MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The main duties of a Legal PA will include, but are not limited to:


Administrative
In conjunction with relevant business support departments, as appropriate:
·Using an effective system such as a to do list/reminders to ensure that longer term tasks are completed;
·Managing diaries, ensuring they are up to date and reminding lawyers of meetings etc on a daily basis;
·Arranging meetings and virtual meetings using Zoom or Microsoft Teams, booking conference rooms, refreshments, checking rooms prior to meetings etc and liaising with other attendees, both internal and external;
·Organising travel arrangements, booking and confirmation of reservations and dealing with related invoices;
·Photocopying, printing, organising couriers, sending out of letters, faxes, case management system uploads etc;
·Opening and closing of general files, general filing, record keeping and archiving of files;
·Liaising with floor support units over filing, scanning, copying etc.
·Using the Land Registry portal and ordering searches using Searchflow or InfoTrack.

Communication
·Taking internal and external telephone queries, responding as appropriate and/or ensuring that all messages are passed on in a timely manner;
·Monitoring post and/or e-mails and dealing with as appropriate and ensuring that all client related correspondence is passed on to an appropriate fee-earner if the relevant person is out of the office;
·Liaising with business support departments on behalf of lawyers as required.
Client Relationship Management
·Be part of client care team and be familiar with the full range of the lawyer's contacts/clients
·Entering, maintaining and updating client details and relevant information of the firm's CRM system;
·Deal with basic queries and general administration, including in relation to hub clients;
·Arrange all client meetings, including client care meetings.

Financial
·Assisting lawyers in ensuring their time is recorded properly and entered onto Elite on a daily basis;
·Assisting lawyers in the billing and credit control process by liaising with the lawyer and Accounts department, to include the production of standard financial/time reports through Aderant;
·Requesting cheques, bank transfers and paying in money received, as appropriate.

Other Duties and Responsibilities
In addition to providing support to the fee-earner(s) to whom they report, a Legal PA should also provide assistance to their immediate colleagues in their department and, where practical, other departments. Team duties will therefore include:
·Assisting others in the office whenever there is spare capacity;
·Picking up telephone calls for other members of the office when they are away from their desk;
·Participating in a lunch time telephone rota within the Legal PA team;
·Assisting other members of the department or office;
·Working effectively with other legal departments and support departments as required; and
·Any other duties as reasonably requested by a person of an appropriate seniority.

SKILLS SET
A Legal PA also has a responsibility to ensure that their skills set is up to date and they are familiar with the firm's internal systems and procedures. This will ensure that they are able to carry out the role effectively and, where appropriate, discuss any training requirements with the relevant person(s).
·Previous PA experience within housing/ property sector beneficial

The role requires a technical costs drafter to work as part of a costs team primarily entail dealing with costs on multi-track claims. This will involve collaborating internally to prepare costs budgets on multi-track claims; preparing bills on settled multi-track claims and negotiating final costs recoveries. You may also undertake other costs work on an ad hoc basis; for example preparing invoices for private paying clients. This role would suit an individual looking to progress their career in costs litigation or someone who has experience handling civil litigation claims and is looking for a change in career direction or specialism.
 
Skills/Competencies required:

The main duties will be to:

Requirements
The successful candidate is likely to have previous experience within a development, real estate or generalist housing profession in legal or professional services and will ideally be able to demonstrate:
·Experience in property - both leasehold and freehold
·Experience in development and regeneration
·Knowledge and understanding of affordable housing products, regulation and procedures, particularly in relation to shared ownership and equity (not essential); and
·Experience of real estate finance and security charging (not essential)
Knowledge and experience that would be beneficial for this role includes:
·Acquisition of new build homes (although experience of the disposal of such would be considered useful also);
·Acquisition of sites for development (although experience of the disposal of such or acting for the developer in such scenarios would be considered useful also);
·Knowledge of the housing sector, including the HE grant programme requirements and particular contractual structures to enable development of affordable homes by registered providers of housing for rent, shared ownership or outright sale;

The Successful Senior Asbestos Lawyer will be a highly motivated Lawyer who is a specialist in handling claims for asbestos-related diseases such as mesothelioma, pleural thickening and lung cancer. The successful candidate will run a high value multi-track caseload and will be able to deal with all aspects of running a case from initial interview to trial, including cases issued in the High Court. You will have a thorough working knowledge and understanding of the issues involved in dealing with multi-track cases, such as costs and the litigation process. you will also have proven and demonstrable experience of carrying out relevant investigations, obtaining relevant documents, preparing witness statements, preparing and attending conferences and Court hearings (CCMCs/Trials).

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Ssolicitors carry out the day-to-day conduct of the regulator's cases under the supervision of a partner and with the assistance of a paralegal. In summary, solicitor caseholders:
·Prepare the case plan at the outset of the case;
·Prepare advice on procedural or evidential issues;
·Correspond with the defence;
·Ensure that all factual evidence required to prove the allegations is obtained;
·Are the key point of contact for all witnesses;
·Interview key witnesses in complex cases or if the witness deals with novel or sensitive issues or is a vulnerable witness;
·Supervise witness statements taken by paralegals;
·Instruct experts and identify if any amendments are necessary to the expert report;
·Prepare instructions to counsel (both our internal advocates and the external bar);
·Attend conferences with counsel;
·Ensure that all action points following the conference are completed;
·Either draft the charge or review the draft charge against the evidence if drafted by counsel;
·Carry out disclosure of unused material;
·Liaise with the defence in the run up to the hearing;
·Supervise the preparation of the hearing bundle by the paralegal;
·Attend hearing at outset only, unless there are legal issues or problems with the case;
·Seek instructions from the client on any issues that arise in the course of the hearing;
·Prepare final reports at the conclusion of a case; and
·Present cases to Practice Committees/Interim Orders Committees.

The work requires managing an investigatory caseload where it is alleged that the registrant has been guilty of serious professional misconduct or has a conviction which renders them unfit to practice. This includes investigatory work and preparing cases for hearings before panels and committees of the relevant regulators. The work is varied, challenging and rewarding and the cases cover everything from large-scale fraud or multi-patient clinical failings through to inappropriate sexualised behaviour.


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


The successful candidate will carry out the day-to-day conduct of the regulator's cases under the supervision of a partner and with the assistance of a paralegal. In summary:


·Review instructions and liaise with the client regarding the proposed investigation;
·Prepare advice on procedural and evidential issues;
·Interview key witnesses, taking full statements in relation to the incident in question. This may include interviews with clinicians about complex matters;
·Ensure support for any vulnerable witnesses
·Act as the main point of contact for the client, keeping the client informed of progress;
·Ensure that all factual evidence required to prove the allegations is obtained;
·Instruct experts and identify if any amendments are necessary to expert reports;
·Liaise with registrants' representatives and registrants acting in person;
·Prepare instructions to counsel (both our internal advocates and the external Bar);
·Attend conferences with counsel;
·Ensure that all action points following the conference are completed;
·Assist with drafting allegations;
·Identify relevant material and ensure proper disclosure of unused material;
·Liaise with the listing team in relation to hearings;
·Liaise with the registrant's team or registrant in person in the run up to the hearing;
·Supervise the preparation of the hearing bundle by the paralegal;
·Attend hearing in whole or part, depending on client requirements;
·Prepare matters in response to any appeal to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council or the High Court;
·Provide advice to clients on issues related to regulatory and disciplinary law;
·Assist with advice to clients on matters of statutory interpretation and policy;
·Assist with training programmes for regulatory clients, both devising and delivering workshops, case studies etc.;
·Write articles and provide updates to the team in relation to regulatory and disciplinary topics.
 
Candidates will be expected to demonstrate at interview that they are self-motivated and commercially minded, as well as having good interpersonal skills and being able to work effectively in teams.
